Psychoeducational Evaluations
I provide psychological and psychoeducational assessments to meet the needs of children and adolescents with learning, attention, and/or behavioral concerns. Evaluations can help determine the extent of your child's difficulties and what, if any, disorders are affecting their performance at school and home. Whether your child already has a diagnosis and you want an updated assessment, you suspect there may be a disorder, or you want to rule out the possibility of a disorder, my goal is to assist you and your child in answering such questions in the most comprehensive and efficient way.
I conduct comprehensive psychoeducational evaluations for children 6 years-young adult (college age). Assessments for academic accommodations for standardized testing, such as the SAT or ACT are also provided. All evaluations are comprehensive and include an assessment of cognitive abilities, academic skills, and social-emotional functioning. In addition, areas of concern are assessed (e.g., attention, hyperactivity/impulsivity, anxiety, executive functions, particular areas of academic functioning-reading/mathematics/written expression, etc.).
I provide psychological and psychoeducational testing to identify conditions such as, but not limited to: Specific Learning Disorders (reading, math, & written expression, also referred to as dyslexia, dyscalculia, and dysgraphia), ADHD, Oppositional Defiant Disorder, and Conduct Disorder. Although learning disorders are the primary focus of psychoeducational testing, emotional disorders such as anxiety and depression are often related and are assessed. Other conditions assessed include processing weaknesses, Nonverbal Learning Disorder, and Sluggish Cognitive Tempo, as well as assessments for Intellectual Giftedness.
Assessments are conducted at Mary Lee Bunch Associates (7113 Peach Ct. # 111, Brentwood, TN).
If you or your child's teacher suspects that your child may have a learning disorder, in addition to ADHD, a Comprehensive Psychoeducational Evaluation is recommended.
An assessment usually involves:
-
Clinical Interview of 60-90 minutes
-
Parent and teacher questionnaires & behavioral checklists
-
Written report
-
Parent and Child Feedback Sessions
-
A Comprehensive Psychoeducational Evaluation also includes 4-6 hours of testing
I personally complete the entire evaluation (clinical interview, all testing, scoring, and feedback sessions) to ensure valid, optimal results. This provides a more consistent personal experience for you and your child, as well as the assurance that your child's entire assessment was conducted by a licensed doctoral-level psychologist.
